Meet one of The ILRC's newest additions: Kendalyn Green

My name is Kendalyn Green. I am a newcomer to the Jacksonville area and one of the newest members to the ILRC of Northeast Florida. I bring three years experience working in the disabilities arena with employment.

Meet one of The ILRC's newest additions: Sarah Pamula. 

My name is Sarah Pamula. I am relatively new to the Jacksonville area having moved here just two years ago. Coming from Cleveland, OH, where there is no shortage of gray days, the constant sunshine here has made quite a difference. With all the vitamin D I now get, I think I smile a whole lot more! There are really wonderful people here that have made me feel right at home in this new city.

Today Apple launched its next Operating System (OS X Lion). With the company's 250 point upgrade, interesting consideration was given to persons with disabilities and accessibility issues. Take a look at what Apple included in its techno-forward four point focus.

This Thursday, The ILRC will host a Wine Gala featuring artists from Brooks Clubhouse. The three artists Eugene Brown, David Lewis and Harrison "Chappy" Eubanks will be available to share their stories and art to all that attend. The Gala, held at Urban Flats (Tinseltown) will begin at 6:00 PM. Flatbreads and wine will be served.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 17, 2011- Individuals with disabilities will ask questions in the tonight's third mayoral forum covering "The Role of Government in Public Health and Safety" hosted at WJCT studios.

Providing services to youth has always been a priority at The ILRC. Staggering statistics have fueled us to ensure that students are prepared for post-secondary education, technical careers and everyday life experiences. Today, the High School/ High Tech and Ready to Achieve Mentoring Programs are in over twenty schools in Northeast Florida. Read what we've been up to this school year. ADA stands for the Americans with Disabilities Act, American Diabetes Association, American Dietic Association, Americans for Democratic Association and so on. Wow, for three letters, there are quite a lot of different meanings. Remembering all of the acronyms migh be challenging, but don't let the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) become confusing. In a nutshell, the ADA is a wide-ranging civil rights law that protects from discrimination against persons with disabilities and gives equal access to, well, life. Let's break it down even further:

THE ILRC OF NORTHEAST FLORIDA received the "Program of the Year" award for the High School/ High Tech services it provides to students with disabilities throughout several counties including a total of 86 students in Clay and St Johns counties.
