My name is Brenda Phillips. I moved to Jacksonville from Mobile, Alabama. I have a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Auburn University.

I have worked with persons with disabilities for the past 19 years. My own husband obtained a spinal cord injury in 1996. I have worked as an Independent Living Specialist, and a Medicaid Case Manager for persons with traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries for the State of Alabama. I also volunteered at the Independent Living Center in Mobile for 12 years. I facilitated support groups for several different disabilities. I also taught a class called Peer Support Training at the Mobile Center. I served on the Board of Directors for Individual and Family Support Services, The Childrens' Rehabilitation Engineering Team, and The Alabama Head Injury Foundation. I guess you could say that this type of work is my lifetime goal.

I look forward to meeting and working with new people and programs in Florida. I hope I can be successful in helping persons with disabilities reach the goals they hopt to achieve in order to live full, healthy, productive and independent lives.
