As an individual with a disability, what things do you take into consideration, when confronted with stress? Perhaps you are in the process of looking for employment. how do you identify what things aggrevate your disability? Take a look at the 10 items listed below and describe how you have identified or addressed these issues as an individual with a disability.
1. Identify your physical, medical, psychological, and/or educational limitations.
2. Learn what things stress you out either physically and/or mentally.
3. Determine, before your interview, whether or not to disclose your disability.
4. Be honest with yourself; identify, before you accept the job, on what you are great and good at and then begin to recognize your skills that could use some developing.
5. Develop a strong network system of people who you trust, who have demonstrated success at what you currently do or what you would like to do.
6. Evaluate your progress, before your evaluation.
7. Manage your progress, even when you aren't being managed the way you would like.
8. Remember that goal setting does not simply end when your new job begins.
9. Be fair; give yourself plenty of time to learn your job.
10. Establish, in the beginning, on how you will handle conflict resolution, deadlines, gossip, and uncooperative team members at work.
