We are a proud partner with Brooks Rehabilitation in providing Durable Medical Equipment (DME) on a temporary basis to individuals with disabilities. The Brooks Temporary Loan Closet (TLC) is housed within the ILRC of NE Florida. All equipment is available for loan to any individual with a disability who lives within the Northeast Florida area. Remember, having a disability can sometimes be temporary. If you find yourself in need of a piece of DME during your recovery process, this program is for you.
In order to obtain a piece of equipment through our program an individual must:
- Provide a doctor’s prescription for the equipment needed
- Schedule an appointment with the TLC Coordinator
- Have the capability and means to transport the equipment
The Brooks TLC has a selection of durable medical equipment available to be loaned out on a temporary loan basis. Some of the items include:
- Wheelchairs
- Walkers
- Canes
- Shower Chairs
- Commode Chairs
- Hospital Beds
- Scooters
PLEASE NOTE: The Brooks TLC loans different types of equipment to individuals on a daily basis. Our program operates almost like a “revolving door.” Equipment “comes in” and equipment “goes out.” Because of this, we sometimes may not have the equipment you need in stock; therefore, we highly recommend that you call our office to be sure we have what you need and make an appointment. The consumer is responsible for the pick-up and return of the loaned equipment to the TLC. However, if that person is unable to come to the center to pick up the equipment, it is possible to release the DME to another individual (designee), provided the applicable documentation is completed and turned in to the TLC Coordinator. Please contact our office for more details.
The Brooks TLC is operated through funding from BROOKS Rehabilitation. In addition, we also accept donations. If you or someone you know is no longer in need of “gently used” durable medical equipment, we welcome the donation which is completely tax deductible. In addition, we also accept monetary donations to assist us with the care and maintenance of the equipment. If you would like to make a contribution to the Temporary Loan Closet, please feel free to contact our office.
